Nick LaTour – Celebrating the Life

Nick LaTour who appeared in many of your favorite television shows and movies over the last thirty plus years has died in Los Angeles.

He was 84. Born E.D. Nixon Jr. he went by the stage name of Nick LaTour and was the son of the late civil rights activist E.D. Nixon who bailed Rosa Parks out of jail after her arrest for refusing to sit in the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. Actress Tonea Stewart broke the news to Examiner.com of LaTour’s passing which occurred on Monday. LaTour appeared in the 2002 television movie The Rosa Parks Story along with Ms. Stewart which filmed in the capital city. Ms. Stewart said of her dear friend, “I loved Nick LaTour”, she added they both starred in an episode of Touched By An Angel written by series star Della Reese. LaTour also starred in the films Deep Cover, Don Juan Demarco and Jingle All The Way. LaTour played the Reverend Gordon in the 1976 classic Good Times episode about James’ death and starred on The Jeffersons that same year and went on to make many guest starring stints on other hit popular television shows such as Quincy M.E., What’s Happening, The White Shadow, Highway To Heaven, 227, Martin, Married with Children, Living Single, ER, The Steve Harvey Show, as well as Touched By An Angel just to name a few.

Memorial services for LaTour will reportedly be held in both his native state of Alabama and California.
