In Celebration of Black Music Month

Thursdays,  June 7, 14 & 21

CAAM offers mostly first run, thematically linked, award winning and critically acclaimed documentary films during the months of April, June, August, and November. A wide variety of films are presented with the opportunity for audience reflection after each film. Films @ CAAM series represent an eclectic span of topics including politics, music, education, art, history and sports, expounding upon rich and sometimes controversial themes. Films @ CAAM series are on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m.

Throughout the year Films @ CAAM provides additional support to CAAM exhibitions by offering documentary films on featured artists, historical references, and the various themes highlighted within the exhibition. Documentaries related to CAAM exhibitions are screened on Saturdays or Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

“Music is my Life, Politics My Mistress: The Story of Oscar Brown Jr.”

An intriguing story of an inspiring man never afraid to speak his mind. As a poet, playwright, musician, composer, lyricist, author and human rights activist, Brown led an extraordinary life and made great contributions along the way.
